This week board members Emily and Chris presented a session at this year’s virtual MacSysAdmin conference. In the session they recapped the journey that lead to the Mac Admin Foundation’s creation, some recent news, and programs currently in progress.

We’re happy to announce that the Mac Admins Foundation will be in attendance at this year’s Jamf Nation User Conference in San Diego, CA. If you’re attending this year’s JNUC, we have a few things we wanted to let you know about while you prepare your schedule for the week.

Please join us after the end of Tuesday’s keynote address in the Sails Pavilion at the San Diego Convention Center for a group photo. Jamf’s social media team will help us take some pictures; thank you Jamf! Please come on Tuesday wearing your favorite Mac Admins Foundation gear. Please wait for the room to begin to clear before making your way up to the stage for the photo.

Mac Admins Mentorship program call for volunteers

We’re excited to announce the kick-off for planning and the formation of a working group to build a Mac Admins Mentorship program!

The goal for the mentorship program is to create a community-driven program that is able to meet as many of the Mac Admins community mentorship needs as possible. To help us get this program off the ground, we need volunteers who are able to dedicate time to being on the working group, and to help get the first iteration of the program ready to help our community.

Congrats to the Mac Admins Foundation on their successful launch!

We were honored to be joined by several board members of the Mac Admins Foundation including returning guests Tom Bridge and Rich Trouton, and new voice Chris Dawe.

The Mac Admins Slack workspace currently serves almost 50,000 members, with approximately 5,000 monthly active members. Beyond providing for the use of community tools like the Mac Admins Slack workspace, the mission of the Mac Admins Foundation is to foster connections, share and preserve knowledge, protect the the independence of the community, and maintain broad accessibility to all community resources.

The Mac Admins Foundation is proud to announce the formation of the Mac Admins Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization for the benefit of the Mac Admins community.

The Mac Admins Foundation exists in order to advance the global community of people who manage Apple devices at large and small scales. Their mission is the following:

Fostering the connections among Mac Admins around the globe;
Sharing knowledge and resources for members’ ongoing professional growth;
Preserving collected knowledge for the benefit of others;
Making a welcoming and accessible organization to expand the profession;
Providing for the use of community tools (such as the Mac Admins Slack workspace);
Protecting the independence of the community; and
Maintaining affordable access to all community resources, regardless of members’ economic status.

The Mac Admins Foundation’s primary activity is the operation of a global online community of IT professionals who specialize in Apple hardware and software.

As Tom mentioned in his post yesterday, Apple announced a new online professional courses and certifications for Apple device support, deployment and management. In the announcement was this fun section:

Apple has also partnered with the Mac Admins Foundation to ensure additional access to the new Apple exams. With underwriting from Apple, the foundation will offer vouchers to applicants with financial need. As a new 501(c)(3) organization, two key tenets of the Mac Admins Foundation are making a welcoming and accessible organization to expand the profession, and maintaining affordable access to all community resources.
