FAQ: Community and Conference Grant

What does the grant include?

Registration for the MacAdmins at Penn State conference, and $2,500 (USD) to cover applicable expenses.

What is the criteria for grant eligibility?

Grant program applicants should self-identify with one or more of the following criteria:

  • You are early in, or starting, your career in technology
  • You have not previously been able to attend an event or conference of this type
  • You are currently unable to self-fund, or secure institutional funding for event attendance

Are there restrictions on what the grant can be used for?

The grant’s purpose is to enable the selected participants to travel to and attend the MacAdmins at Penn State conference, and to participate fully in the conference with the community. The Mac Admins Foundation believes that providing an unstructured cash grant is the best way to allow Mac Admins to cover necessary expenses without requiring pre-approval.

How do I submit an application?

Applications can be submitted here.

When will the grant recipients be notified?

On or around the week of May 18, 2026.

How will the grant be distributed?

Recipients will receive an electronic transfer from the Mac Admins Foundation in US Dollars. The Mac Admins Foundation will not be responsible for any international fees or brokerage costs.

What if I have money left over following the conference?

Invest it in yourself, with our blessings.

I want to apply but can’t attend MacAdmins at PSU. Can I get a cash alternative to go towards independent study?

I want to apply, but can’t attend MacAdmins at PSU. Can I go to a different conference/event that’s closer to me?
