The Mac Admins Foundation (“MAF,” “we,” “us”) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. This policy explains what information macadmins.org collects, how it is used, and the third-party services we rely on. We aim to collect as little personal information as possible.
By using macadmins.org, you agree to the practices described here.
The short version
macadmins.org is a static website — there are no user accounts, and we do not build profiles of visitors. We don’t collect personal information about you unless you choose to send it to us (for example, by emailing us or submitting an application). We use no analytics and set no cookies. Payments and program applications are handled by trusted third-party services, described below.
Information we collect
Information you choose to give us. When you email us, submit a form, apply to a program, or make a donation, you provide information such as your name, email address, and anything you include in your message or application. We use it only to respond to you and to run the program or service you asked about.
Server logs. Our web host records standard technical information when your browser requests a page — such as your IP address, browser type, and the time of the request. These logs are used to operate the site securely and diagnose problems, and are not used to identify you.
Analytics. We don’t use analytics — see “Cookies and analytics” below.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Cookies and analytics
macadmins.org sets no cookies and uses no analytics — we don’t track visitors or build profiles.
To remember your display choices, the site stores a few preferences in your browser’s local storage: your theme (light or dark), contrast and font accessibility settings, dismissed notices, and a remembered Mastodon instance for sharing. This information stays on your device, is never sent to us, and is not used to identify or track you. You can clear it at any time through your browser’s settings.
Note (as of July 9, 2026): macadmins.org does not use any analytics. If this ever changes, we will amend this note to describe what is collected and how you can opt out.
How you contact us and apply to programs
- Contact form. Our contact form works entirely in your browser — it opens your own email client with a message pre-filled to us. We only receive what you choose to send.
- Program applications. Applications for grants and similar programs are collected using Google Forms. Information you submit through those forms is handled under Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Slack access help. If you use our Slack help page, your email is handled by our help-desk provider, Ravenna, to create and track a support ticket.
Donations and membership
Donations and memberships are processed by Qgiv, a third-party payment provider. When you donate, your payment details are entered on Qgiv’s secure platform and handled under Qgiv’s Privacy Policy. We never see or store your full payment card details.
Third-party services we use
We rely on a small number of reputable providers, each with its own privacy policy:
- Qgiv — donation and membership payment processing
- Google — Forms (applications)
- Ravenna — help-desk ticketing for Slack access requests
- Hetzner — website hosting
Links to other sites
macadmins.org links to other websites, including the Mac Admins Slack, GitHub, and our sponsors. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
Data security
We take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, and the third-party services above use encryption (HTTPS/TLS) to protect data in transit. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
macadmins.org is intended for professionals who manage Apple devices and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your choices
You may contact us at any time to ask what information we hold about you, or to request that we correct or delete it, and we will do our best to honor reasonable requests. The site does not use analytics, so there is nothing to opt out of; you can clear the preferences stored in your browser at any time through your browser’s settings.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date.
